Engineering Beyond the Classroom: USM Students Gain Industry Insight at Ideal Vision

On 19th November 2025, Ideal Vision hosted a group of Mechatronic Engineering students from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), together with lecturers and university staff, for an Industry Exposure Programme aimed at bridging academic learning with real-world industrial practice.

The programme provided participants with an inside look into the company’s role in advanced machine vision and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) solutions. The visit began with a warm welcome and a company introduction by the CEO, setting the context for Ideal Vision’s technology focus and industry applications.

Students were then taken through a structured, hands-on experience covering the end-to-end machine development flow. Through rotating group sessions, participants explored mechanical design concepts, machine technology including 3D vision, artificial intelligence and software, as well as machine vision hardware. Live machine demonstrations and interactive sharing sessions allowed students to better understand how engineering principles are applied in actual production environments.

A highlight of the programme was the interactive activity segment, which encouraged engagement and collaboration while reinforcing key concepts in machine vision. The visit concluded with a career sharing session, offering students valuable insights into career pathways, industry expectations, and future opportunities in the field of mechatronics and machine vision.

The programme ended with souvenir distribution and a group photo session, marking a meaningful exchange between industry and academia. Ideal Vision remains committed to nurturing young engineering talent by providing exposure to practical technologies, industry knowledge, and real-world engineering environments that support students’ professional development beyond the classroom.
